I want to learn computers online. I know very little about computers. Can somebody give me a good website?

This link should help, it’s a beginner’s guide to computers:

I’m looking to re-enter the information technology field and would like to get training for the COMP TIA A+ and Network + certificates and eventually network admin cert. Where would be a good place to get training for this in the Boston area (either north shore or south shore)? I don’t want to spend a lot of money on this so I do want to keep cost in mind.

If you want a career in IT a short training won’t work you will need to attend a 4 year university. Otherwise you won’t get a job because everyone else interviewing will already have a 4 year.

I want to study computer science/IT at a university. However I am not sure what is it all about? Someone told me that there is software/hardware IT but I don’t know what that means. If you ever studied computer science could you please tell me more about it, as well as job prospects? Thank you!

it is not difficult if you have the good will to learn it , just you need to be patient and especially you need to love it so u will be successful in computing ,

for jobs I guess that there are a lot of opportunities for IT specialists

I found out my email might have some sort of virus that allows who ever put it in there to see my emails and what is sent in and out. Im pretty sure there might be something on my computer as well… Is there some sort of virus or program one can put on a computer that allows another to see everything that you are doing on your computer? How can I find this program and get rid of it? : /

Honestly it could be many things, if the person who has infected your computer is a smart person his file will be ‘FUD’ which stands for ‘Fully UnDetectable’ meaning no anti-virus program will pick it up. If you’re running a virus scan, run the scan when your computer is in ‘Safe mode’ then the anti-virus program will have more chance of picking the infection up. You can check your ‘Start up’ you can check this by clicking ‘Start then typing in ‘MSCONFIG’ and hittng enter when the SC comes up, go to ‘start up’ , this will show anything that boots up when your laptop/computer is loaded. if it’s a virus it will be on that list.

I can help you VIA ‘Team viewer’ remove the infection if you like.

I would like to be an expert on computer programming but at least know my way around the hardware. Is there a degree like this or is it in my best interests to dual degree seek?

Electrical Engineering seems to be what you need. Most compsci degrees never touch on hardware. Try adding some C and Assembly into an EE degree, and you would likely get what you are looking for. Add something like LISP or Python later for a very high level language, but it looks like you would benefit from learning some low level languages that interact with the hardware well. Maybe try designing some hardware of your own and writing a driver for it?

Computer Science, Game Development and the XNA Game Studio Platform
Presented by Alfred Thompson & Steve Scanlan
This presentation talks about creating and implementing a high school game development curriculum using the (free) XNA Game Studio. We present the reasoning behind this type of course, show screenshots and a video introduction to student projects, as well as show examples of the sort of code students can create. We also talk about how freely available curriculum has been used and modified with real students. We present a collection of helpful resources including websites, tutorials and videos from Microsoft and independent web sites.

I asked a similar question about getting a barebones, but heres my question. i dont want to become cpu masters like you guys, but is getting a barbones system a good way to learn about ahrdware and computers in general?

The best way to learn about computers is to have one that works and gets on the web. Then get junk from friends or relatives and fix it. Thats how I got started. You can look up the errors / problems you’ve encountered and address them. Its time consuming but you learn a lot. Get some help from tech savvy friends too but don’t let them do it for you.

If you want to make your studies useful, work on your A+ certification. Get a book or some CBT’s to train yourself to the point where you’re ready to take the test. Practice on your junk PC’s and eventually, you can get the certification. After that you can get a job or get vendor certs and start fixing your friends computers and get paid by the vendors (Lenovog, HP, Dell etc..) when you do warranty work for them.

I’ve trained five people to get their A+ by giving them a basic introduction to the hardware components and then having them fix stuff. I help them by answering some questions when they get stuck, but I’m not the easy source for info they probably hoped I would be. I teach them to find the answers not memorize them. Thats the difference between experience and free information. Information is best when it comes from experience. Free information is easily forgotten and gets stale (less relevant daily) because things change so fast in this business. Problem solving skills are priceless.

If you don’t want to get that deep, you can still use the A+ study material anyway. It is by definition, the basics. You can get a bare bones system if you want too, but I think its smarter to practice on junk.

Thats my opinion.

Good luck.
